Ever since I was a kid growing up in Ogden Utah back in the early 80's, I've been fascinated by the Spanish bullfight. I even searched out books on bullfighting at the Weber County library, where I found and read "Death in the Afternoon" by Ernest Hemingway. I'm probably the only kid in Utah to have ever read that book. Now here we are 40 years later and I still enjoy learning about and keeping up with the bullfights.

Alvaro de la Called en Madrid hoy

Alvaro de la Calle has made a career for himself being the "back-up" bullfighter whenever there are bullfights that are either mano a mano, (like today with Antonio Ferrera and Roman) or bullfights that are featuring one torero en solitario. He became well known in 2022 when he was the back-up for Emilio de Justo on Palm Sunday and Emilio de Justo was injured by his first bull. I posted about it here, click link .

Good to see he is still suiting up.
